A River Glorious, Is God's Perfect Peace

Much of my love for church music came through from my Grandmother and Mother. I awoke this morning with this hymn rolling through my soul Had to go look up the lyrics. This is the sort of thing I think of when I see sights like the Yellowstone River Canyon, also known as the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. One Ranger spoke of it as almost more glorious than the Grand Canyon of the Southwest because you can see the depth and width more easily than the deep gorge of that other National Park.

It was not until I went online to find the lyrics that I realized Frances was a woman!
"Daughter of hymnist William Havergal, Frances was a bright but short lived candle in English hymnody. She was baptized by hymnist John Cawood. She was reading by age four, and began writing verse at age seven. She learned Latin, Greek and Hebrew, and memorized the Psalms, the book of Isaiah, and most of the New Testament. " She wrote at least 80 hymns! So here si Chris Rice playing the hymn. Lyrics are below. Enjoy and enter into "His Perfect Peace and Rest."

Like a river glorious, is God’s perfect peace,
Over all victorious, in its bright increase;
Perfect, yet it floweth, fuller every day,
Perfect, yet it groweth, deeper all the way.

Refrain

Stayed upon Jehovah, hearts are fully blest
Finding, as He promised, perfect peace and rest.

Hidden in the hollow of His blessed hand,
Never foe can follow, never traitor stand;
Not a surge of worry, not a shade of care,
Not a blast of hurry touch the spirit there.

Refrain

Every joy or trial falleth from above,
Traced upon our dial by the Sun of Love;
We may trust Him fully all for us to do.
They who trust Him wholly find Him wholly true.

Refrain
